Training and development

Developing our people is not something we just pay lip service to. We fully support every staff member in taking their next steps towards realising their full potential.

We encourage staff to further their skills, knowledge and qualifications by sponsoring their attendance at appropriate seminars or conferences, or in undertaking courses or training programmes.

Our close links with local educational facilities mean we can give all employees the information they need to identify and pursue the course most appropriate to developing their career.

From the outset, you'll appreciate a full induction and basic job skills training. We'll also ensure you're properly equipped to do your job whether it's through regular mandatory training (fire, health and safety etc.) or any necessary skills and/or knowledge updating. All training and development opportunities are offered in line with the Trust's objectives and strategies to ensure you not only continue to stay abreast of developments in your field, but are also prepared to meet changing work systems, methods and technology. We recognise the importance of both internally and externally recognised competencies and qualifications and the role management development plays in improving Trust capabilities.

Our lifelong learning commitments has been further consolidated and enhanced by the opening of our state of the art, multi-disciplinary training centre (academy) in 2004.
