Health Checks
During the recruitment process (usually when invited to interview) you will be sent a health questionnaire to complete. Should you be successful at interview this will be forwarded on to the Occupational Health department who may contact you direct should they have any further questions. These checks are carried out to ensure you are fit to carry out the role which you are being appointed to.
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)
The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), an Executive Agency of the Home Office, provides wider access to criminal record information through its Disclosure service. This service enables organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors to make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work, especially that involve children or vulnerable adults. The CRB was established under Part V of the Police Act 1997 and was launched in March 2002.
Prior to 2002, access to police checks was mainly confined to organisations in the statutory sector for staff who had ‘substantial unsupervised access’ to children. There were many other organisations that could not access these checks and yet had staff with similar access to vulnerable groups. The CRB enables many more organisations to access these checks as part of good recruitment practice.
If a CRB check is required for your appointment, an application form will be sent to you along with your written offer of employment along with instructions on its completion. More information can be seen on the use and retention of CRB checks on our FAQ page.
Eligibility to Work in the UK
In line with the Asylum and Immigration Act, the Trust, as an employer is required by law to make basic document checks on every person we employ. With this in mind we require all new starters to the Trust to bring their passport to their welcome day, a copy of which will be taken and kept on your personal file.
Qualifications/Professional Registration – To ensure we recruit people who are appropriately trained and registered to carry out their roles we check relevant exam/qualification certificates and certificates of professional registration. Originals are checked usually at interview and a copy set will be taken for your personal file.
