Support services

As a member of the Support Services Team, you will have a vital role in helping to care for hospital patients. You’ll work in one of four key areas catering, cleaning, stores and portering. A pleasant, hygienic environment combined with nutritious meals make a hospital stay as comfortable as possible. Transporting patients and stores around the hospital is a vital part of the hospitals daily operational effectiveness. Support Services can play an important part in helping to speed up patient’s recovery. On the job, training plays a vital role in your development and NVQ training is available in all aspects of support services.

Estates services

The estates team works together to make sure the hospital environment is a safe, welcoming place. From making sure that all waste is quickly and properly disposed of to keeping the grounds restful and attractive, estates team members are active in making the hospital as pleasant as possible for patients, visitors and staff. They also provide general maintenance anything from changing a light bulb to servicing the heating. If you enjoy practical hands-on work or you like design and technology, then a career in NHS estates could be for you.
